Condition-based inspection/replacement policies for non-monotone deteriorating systems with environmental covariates

چکیده
The aim of this paper is to discuss the problem of modelling and optimising condition-based maintenance policies for a deteriorating system in presence of covariates. The deterioration is modelled by a non-monotone stochastic process. The covariates process is assumed to be a time-homogenous Markov chain with finite state space. A model similar to the proportional hazards model is used to show the influence of covariates on the deterioration. In the framework of the system under consideration, an appropriate inspection/replacement policy which minimises the expected average maintenance cost is derived. The average cost under different conditions of covariates and different maintenance policies is analysed through simulation experiments to compare the policies performances. & 2010 Elsevier Ltd. A POMDP Framework to Find Optimal Inspection and Maintenance Policies via Availability and Profit Maximization for Manufacturing Systems
Maintenance can be the factor of either increasing or decreasing system's availability, so it is valuable work to evaluate a maintenance policy from cost and availability point of view, simultaneously and according to decision maker's priorities. This study proposes a Partially Observable Markov Decision Process (POMDP) framework for a partially observable and stochastically deteriorating syste...
متن کاملHealth-and-usage-based maintenance policies for a partially observable deteriorating system
The aim of this paper is to discuss the modelling and optimization of condition-based maintenance policies for systems is submitted to usage profile changes. The considered system undergoes a monotone deterioration (gamma process) and its is impacted by the usage conditions (covariates) via the proportional hazards model. Four different policies are proposed and the optimal maintenance paramete...
متن کاملMaintainability Policy for Deteriorating System with Inspection and Common Cause Failure (TECHNICAL NOTE)
A condition based preventive and corrective maintenance policy is proposed for a continuously operating system. The condition of the system is assumed to deteriorate with time. The model incorporates both deterioration as well as random common cause failures. The deterioration stages are modeled as discrete state processes. The system is put to random inspection to know the condition. The mean ...
متن کاملIntegrated Inspection Planning and Preventive Maintenance for a Markov Deteriorating System Under Scenario-based Demand Uncertainty
In this paper, a single-product, single-machine system under Markovian deterioration of machine condition and demand uncertainty is studied. The objective is to find the optimal intervals for inspection and preventive maintenance activities in a condition-based maintenance planning with discrete monitoring framework. At first, a stochastic dynamic programming model whose state variable is the ...
متن کاملMonotone optimal replacement policies for a Markovian deteriorating system in a controllable environment
We consider the optimal replacement of a periodically inspected system under Markov deterioration that operates in a controlled environment. Provided are sufficient conditions that characterize an optimal control-limit replacement policy with respect to the system’s condition and its environment. The structure of the optimal policy is illustrated by a numerical example.
